Malinda has loved music since she was young. She began playing the flute in sixth grade and in seventh and eighth grade she was first chair of All-County and All-District in Fredericksburg, VA. She was also in The Rappahannock Youth Orchestra (program meant for high school students) in eighth grade. The summer before her freshman year, Malinda had moved to Philadelphia. She spent her freshman year at the Arts Academy At Benjamin Rush, where she was principal of their Advanced Orchestra.

Malinda is currently a sophomore at The Philadelphia High School For Creative And Performing Arts. She is a member of All-City Orchestra and Band, and Philadelphia Young Musicians Orchestra. Malinda is currently studying under Adeline Thompson.  Malinda is considering a performance major for college. In the future, she is striving for a life full of music and family.
