Na’Zir McFadden is an 18 year old Clarinetist and Conductor. He attends the DePaul University School of Music for a double degree in Clarinet Performance and Orchestral Conducting.
Na’Zir has participated in many musical ensembles including The Philadelphia Sinfonia, Philadelphia Young Artist Orchestra, Philadelphia All City Orchestra, Philadelphia All City Concert Band, Temple University Creative Music Program, PMEA District 12 Band and Orchestra, Youth Orchestra of Bucks County, Northeast Regional Music Festival, National Take a Stand Festival Orchestra, and The Curtis Institute Young Artist Program. Currently he is clarinetist in the DePaul University Wind Quintet.
On February 28th, 2017 Na’Zir made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Music director of The Philadelphia Orchestra Yannick Nezet Seguin claimed Na’Zir as “Pop Up Guest Conductor 2017”. The Philadelphia Orchestra posted to social media a picture of Na’Zir, Yannick, and CEO of the POA with a caption stating “A Future Music Director is among us, Na’Zir McFadden takes the stage leading the POA alongside Music Director Yannick Nezet Seguin”. Na’Zir recently traveled to Europe to participate in the International Institute for Conductors, where he studied with Maestro Ovidiu Balan of the Bacau Philharmonic.
Currently Na’Zir is Music Director of the Lincoln Park Chamber Orchestra Chicago. During their 2018/2019 season he will lead the ensemble in performances of Dvorak Symphony No. 8 and 9, Haydn Symphony No. 104, Rimsky Korsakov’s Scheherazade, and a new commissioned called Earthen Eulogy by American composer Colin Wittlich.
