With support from Primavera, Karis was able to attend Csehy Summer School of Music in the summer of 2018 and ESME Virtual String Camp this past summer. At these programs, she was privileged to study with wonderful violinists such as Deborah Klemme and Kimberly Kennedy. Primavera and PMAY also provided her many masterclass opportunities, allowing Karis to play for violinists Rachel Barton Pine, Danielle Belen, and Michael Jorgenson.

In addition, Karis received the Eric Anderson scholarship from the Settlement Music School several years ago and represented her school at the Association of Christian Schools International competition as an instrumental soloist three times. Each time she received the highest score for her performance.

Lastly, Karis enjoys playing violin at her church and accompanying the church choir (on piano). She likes to play piano and write during her spare time.

Karis, a fifteen year old violinist, is a sophomore at Phil-mont Christian Academy. At five years old, she began studying the violin at Settlement Music School, where she currently studies with Mr. Lee Snyder. In 2017, she became a PMAY artist, and the following year, was accepted into the Primavera Fund.

During the 2020-2021 school year, Karis plans to play in the Philadelphia Sinfonia youth orchestra, directed by Maestro Gary White, and the Newman Advanced Study string quartet, coached by Mr. Sidney Curtiss. She joined both programs last year, and both helped her grow immensely as a musician. Previously, she participated in pre-advanced study chamber groups at Settlement Music School, and played in District Orchestra during the 2019-2020 school year.
