Shinnyom David Park, Viola

Seventeen-year-old Shinnyom David Park is a dedicated violist and senior at the Charter School of Wilmington. Beginning his musical journey at the age of six under the guidance of Shelley Beard Santore, David’s dedication and passion have only deepened as he continues his studies with her to this day. His commitment has earned him significant recognition, including an honorable mention at the Delaware Competition for Young Musicians and prestigious scholarships such as the Anthony “Tony” G Simmons Merit Scholarship, the Alberta Elizabeth Edge Merit Scholarship, and the Coastal Concert Scholarship.

David is now in his fourth year as a violist of the renowned Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, performing under the baton of Maestro Scaglione. He was also the Co-Principal Violist of the Delaware All-State Orchestra. Last summer, David showcased his skill at the American Viola Society Festival Invitational Competition, where he advanced as a finalist.

David’s passion extends beyond performance; he has dedicated time to teaching younger students in one-on-one viola sessions and sharing his music with local community homes, embodying his belief in the power of music to inspire and connect.

Outside of music, David leads a well-rounded life with a love for soccer, lacrosse, running, fashion, and spending time with friends and family—especially relishing the winter season. Grateful to be part of the Primavera Fund, David takes pride in being part of a community committed to fostering talent and hopes to use his music and experiences to uplift and positively impact those around him.
